Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has received more than 4,500 former members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APmC). The defectors were presented to the Governor by the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru, during the Governor’s ‘Thank You’ visit to the area.

Among the defectors were retired Permanent Secretaries and other prominent individuals who pledged their support for the Governor and his administration. Governor Idris assured the new members of equal treatment and justice within the party, emphasizing the APC’s commitment to inclusiveness and fairness.

Speaking during the event, the APC State Chairman praised the decision of the defectors to join the APC, describing it as a strategic and wise political move. He directed the APC leadership at the local level to integrate the new members fully into the party’s structure and to ensure they enjoy equal rights and privileges.

The Governor attributed the mass defection to the success of his administration in fostering development and fairness across the state. He expressed gratitude to the people for their support during the last elections and reiterated his determination to fulfill his campaign promises. He also highlighted ongoing and upcoming projects designed to improve the lives of residents, including the renovation of district heads’ palaces, the electrification of Kangiwa, and the reconstruction of a collapsed bridge on the Birnin Kebbi–Makera road.

The defectors, represented by Engr. Ahmed Yusuf Tanko and Samaila Dan Iko, cited Governor Idris’ development initiatives and inclusive leadership style as key reasons for their decision to switch allegiance.
