Governor Idris Donates N50 Million to Support Tijjaniya Movement at Maulud Event

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has demonstrated his administration’s dedication to supporting religious activities by donating N50 million to the Tijjaniya Movement. This announcement was made during the 2024 International Maulud for Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani, held at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi. The event attracted distinguished clerics from various countries, including Senegal, Morocco, and Nigeria.

Governor Idris expressed his pleasure in hosting the annual Tijjaniya congregation in Kebbi’s capital. He emphasized that the state government values the significant role religious organizations play in fostering unity and spiritual growth. The Governor’s donation, he noted, reflects the administration’s deep respect for the cultural and historical importance of such gatherings.

In his remarks, Governor Idris highlighted the strong relationship between his administration and the Tijjaniya Movement. He acknowledged the movement’s support during his political journey, particularly during his election campaign. As a gesture of gratitude, he pledged to continue assisting the movement in its efforts to propagate Islam and ensure a conducive environment for religious activities in the state.

The Governor’s commitment was warmly received by Khalifa Ahmad Usman Muktar, the leader of the Tijjaniya movement in Kebbi State. He expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support from the state government, noting that such assistance is crucial in promoting Islamic values and fostering peace and harmony within the community.

Earlier at the event, Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who represented his father Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, spoke about the significance of the Maulud celebration. He emphasized that the gathering was organized to honor the legacy of Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani and to pray for peace and security in the North-West region.

Governor Idris’s donation and his administration’s continued support for religious activities underscore his commitment to fostering inclusivity and mutual understanding in Kebbi State. His proactive stance in promoting religious tolerance and community cohesion is seen as a positive step toward strengthening the state’s diverse religious landscape.
