Governor Idris Initiates Plan to Turn Political Thugs into Employers of Labor

In a bid to address the pervasive issue of political thuggery, Governor Idris of Kebbi state has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming political thugs into contributors to the workforce. This initiative, spearheaded by Alhaji Nura Bala-Fingiller, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, reflects the government’s commitment to not only combatting thuggery but also fostering economic empowerment and self-sufficiency among marginalized youths.

The commissioner emphasized that Governor Nasir Idris has directed him to identify prominent political thugs, offer them a stipend, and equip them with skills through training programs. The aim is not only to eliminate thuggery but also to empower these individuals to become self-reliant and potentially create job opportunities for others.

Additionally, the ministry is planning a widespread sensitization program across all 21 local government areas of the state to educate youth on the importance of skill acquisition and the dangers of drug abuse. The Kebbi Youth Council, along with foreign agencies, is involved in youth development programs to support the state government’s efforts in providing opportunities for youth to become self-sufficient.

Furthermore, plans are underway to establish standard skills acquisition training centers in each of the four Emirates of the state to facilitate youth training. The commissioner also highlighted successes in beach soccer, with Kebbi teams achieving notable victories and recognition both nationally and internationally.

Moreover, the state government is actively involved in promoting football talent, with several players undergoing trials in Europe and the Middle East. Additionally, the government sponsored the Referees Development Programme, resulting in the nomination of two referees for the FIFA Grading Programme, showcasing the state’s commitment to sports development at various levels.
