In his inaugural speech on Monday, Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State expressed his firm determination to dismiss any political appointee caught pursuing personal gains at the expense of the state’s welfare. Taking the oath of office as the ninth governor of the state at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Idris emphasized his administration’s commitment to thwarting any attempts to exploit the state’s resources for personal advantage.
The governor asserted, “We shall raise and lift up every hand that seeks to selflessly contribute in our genuine efforts to make Kebbi state better. To this end, appointees who place personal interests above public interests will be quickly replaced with individuals devoted to the prosperity and well-being of Kebbi state and its people.”
Idris went on to emphasize his resolute stance against special interests within the government’s affairs, calling for every government official, regardless of their status, to adhere to the same principles. He further sought the collective support of residents to achieve his agenda of redirection, reconstruction, re-alignment, and restoration in order to build a new Kebbi.
“Our government will strive to achieve an agenda of redirection, reconstruction, re-alignment, and restoration. It will not be easy, but dear compatriots, it is very possible. It requires sacrifice and commitment from all of us,” the governor affirmed.
