“I’m a Man,” Bobrisky Declares in Court

Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, found himself in the spotlight once again as he appeared in court and declared his gender identity during sentencing for naira abuse.

The federal judge in Lagos sentenced Bobrisky to six months in jail without the option of a fine for mutilating naira notes. This decision came after Bobrisky was found guilty of tampering with the Nigerian currency during a social event at Imax Circle Mall in Jakande, Lekki, on March 24, 2024.

In a surprising turn of events during the court proceedings, Bobrisky asserted his identity when questioned about his sex, stating unequivocally, “I’m a man.” This statement challenges public perceptions and adds another layer to the ongoing discussion surrounding gender expression and societal norms.

The judge, Justice Awogboro, emphasized the seriousness of the offense, highlighting its detrimental impact on the country’s image. “Enough of people mutilating and tampering with our currencies. It has to stop,” Justice Awogboro asserted.
