JAMB 2025 Rules, Prohibited Actions, and Penalties

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has outlined rules and regulations for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Rules for Parents

1. Familiarize with the Process: Parents are advised to understand the registration process, key deadlines, and requirements to guide their children effectively.
2. Assist with Document Preparation: Helping children secure required documents like the National Identification Number (NIN), valid email address, and O’Level results ahead of time ensures a stress-free registration.
3. Guide Course and Institution Choices: Parents should work with their children to select appropriate courses and institutions, using the JAMB brochure to verify requirements.
4. Encourage Integrity: Parents must discourage examination malpractice and promote honest preparation for the exams.

Prohibited Actions During JAMB UTME

1. Possession of Unauthorized Items:
   Candidates are not allowed to bring devices such as calculators, mobile phones, or smartwatches into the examination hall.
   Penalty: Immediate disqualification and nullification of results.
2. Impersonation:
   Arranging for someone else to take the examination on behalf of a candidate is strictly prohibited.
   Penalty: Both the impersonator and candidate will face legal prosecution, possible imprisonment, and a lifetime ban from JAMB exams.

1. Cheating or Use of Unauthorized Materials:
   Bringing in notes, textbooks, or other prohibited items is not allowed.

   Penalty: Ejection from the hall, result cancellation, and possible future bans.

General Penalties for Examination Malpractice

• Result Cancellation: Any form of malpractice results in the immediate nullification of the candidate’s score for that session.
• Legal Actions: Offenders may be prosecuted, facing fines or imprisonment depending on the severity of their offense.
• Ban from Future Examinations: Candidates involved in serious offenses may be barred from writing JAMB in the future.
• Blacklisting: Offenders’ details may be shared with institutions and other examination bodies, affecting future academic opportunities.
