JAMB Announces New Date for 2025 UTME — Exam Now Begins April 24,Full Guide to Exam Slip Printing

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced a new date for the commencement of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The nationwide exams will now begin on Thursday, April 24, 2025, instead of the initially planned April 25.

This update was confirmed through an official statement signed by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, on April 19, 2025.

Why the New Date?

According to the Board, the shift became necessary to accommodate critical engagements involving JAMB and its partner agencies. While the difference is only by one day, it’s essential that all candidates take note of the revised date to avoid missing their exams.

Portal Now Open for Exam Slip Printing

In preparation for the new date, JAMB has activated its official portal to allow registered candidates to print their 2025 UTME Examination Notification Slips. These slips contain vital details such as:

  • Exact examination date
  • Assigned center location
  • Examination time

How to Print Your UTME Exam Slip:

  1. Visit the official JAMB portal: www.jamb.gov.ng
  2. Click on “2025 UTME Slip Printing”
  3. Enter your registration number
  4. Click “Print Examination Slip”

Candidates are strongly advised to visit their examination centres ahead of time to become familiar with the location and avoid confusion on exam day.

Candidates Must Stay Within Assigned Towns

JAMB has emphasized a strict policy: no candidate will be allowed to write the exam outside their selected town. The center assigned to each candidate is based on the town they chose during registration. Any attempt to appear elsewhere will not be tolerated.

Key Things You Must Know Before the Exam

  • Your slip is your access pass. Without it, you won’t be allowed into the exam hall.
  • Confirm your venue in advance — physical directions matter.
  • Arrive at your center at least one hour before the scheduled time.
  • Bring a valid ID and two passport-sized photos (just in case).
  • Do not bring prohibited items like phones, smartwatches, or calculators.

JAMB’s New Security Strategy: Fake Websites to Catch Cheats

In a move to reduce malpractice, JAMB launched decoy websites to trap candidates attempting to buy fake questions or upgrade scores. Over 180 candidates have already been caught in this smart operation. These efforts show JAMB’s growing focus on transparency and exam integrity.

N397 Million Paid to Mock UTME Officials

Earlier this month, JAMB paid over N397 million in transport support to 1,909 officials who helped conduct the April 10 mock examination across Nigeria. This level of coordination is expected to be repeated or improved during the main UTME.

Conclusion: Be Prepared and Act Early

With the new date set for April 24, 2025, all registered candidates should act fast — print their slips, visit their centers, and review exam rules carefully. This small preparation step could mean the difference between success and avoidable stress.

Stay informed. Stay ahead.
