JAMB Start 2025 UTME Centre Accreditation Process: Key Details and Requirements

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the governing body responsible for organizing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Nigeria, has announced the commencement of its accreditation process for the 2025 UTME centres. This development marks a critical phase in preparation for the annual examination that determines entry into tertiary institutions across the country.

A Strategic First Step

The accreditation process is designed to ensure that all participating Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres meet JAMB’s stringent operational and technical standards. In a statement issued by JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board emphasized that the accreditation phase lays the groundwork for a smooth and credible examination exercise.

Who Can Apply?

JAMB has clarified the pathway for both new and existing CBT centres to secure their place in the upcoming exercise:

  1. For New Centres: Prospective operators must review the detailed requirements for establishing a JAMB-approved CBT centre. These guidelines are available on the official JAMB website at CBT Centre Requirements. After understanding the prerequisites, new centres are required to formally notify JAMB of their intent to participate. This notification must be addressed to the Registrar of JAMB through the Zonal Director or State Coordinator in their respective states.
  2. For Established Centres: Centres that successfully participated in the 2024 UTME without any compliance issues are not required to undergo the accreditation process afresh. Instead, they should express their interest in participating in the 2025 exercise via the Centre Management System (CMS) portal.

Why Accreditation Matters

Accreditation is not just a formality—it is an essential quality control mechanism. By adhering to rigorous standards, JAMB ensures the integrity of the UTME process, safeguarding the interests of candidates and maintaining public trust in the examination system.

Anticipated Impact

With the 2025 UTME expected to attract millions of candidates nationwide, the Board’s proactive approach to accreditation signals its commitment to delivering a seamless and technologically robust examination experience. Moreover, the focus on compliance and quality assurance reinforces JAMB’s reputation as a forward-thinking institution.

What’s Next?

The deadline for accreditation is yet to be announced, but CBT centre operators are encouraged to act promptly to avoid missing out. As the UTME process continues to evolve, JAMB’s emphasis on technology, security, and transparency remains unwavering.
