A tragic stampede on Saturday claimed the lives of 22 people in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, during a charity event organized by the Obijackson Foundation. The event, aimed at distributing food items, turned fatal when a large crowd surged forward, resulting in chaos and multiple casualties.
The Anambra State Police confirmed the incident in a statement, with Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono visiting the hospital where victims were treated.
