In a recent interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency in the implementation of the Presidential Conditional Grant Programme. The program, designed to mitigate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal, commenced in early December.
Minister Edu emphasized the government’s dedication to a transparent system, announcing plans to publish the names of beneficiaries on a dedicated website. This move aims to provide accessibility and transparency, allowing individuals worldwide to verify the recipients of federal government intervention programs.
“We want to run a transparent system. We are setting up a site where the names of people that benefit from any of the federal government intervention programs can be checked from anywhere in the world. We want to make it public and transparent so that the government can gain the confidence of Nigerians,” she stated.

To achieve this transparency, various technologies are being deployed, including both government-owned systems and private platforms like Remita. Minister Edu explained that payments are made directly from the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Treasury Single Account (CBN TSA) into the beneficiaries’ accounts, ensuring the funds do not pass through any consultant’s account.

The ongoing focus of the program is the enrollment of more participants, especially those without established financial structures like banks. Minister Edu encouraged individuals at the grassroots level to apply, emphasizing the inclusivity of the initiative.
“We will publish the names of beneficiaries of the federal government grant soon so that Nigerians will know exactly who got what,” she affirmed.
The initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to enhance accountability and build public trust. By leveraging technology and establishing a user-friendly online platform, the government aims to provide a comprehensive and accessible record of grant beneficiaries, fostering transparency in the distribution of funds.
