
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has disbursed over N2.7 billion to support the education of students from the state, both locally and internationally.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, made the announcement during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
According to Abubakar-Tunga, the funds will cover various allowances, including accommodation and upkeep for Kebbi State students pursuing higher education abroad.
“Governor Nasir Idris has approved and released N117.2 million to support 25 Kebbi indigenes studying in different universities across Egypt, covering their upkeep and accommodation costs,” he stated.

Additionally, the governor facilitated the return of eight students who recently graduated from an Indian university by covering their flight expenses from India to Birnin Kebbi at a total cost of N14.4 million.
Summarizing the governor’s intervention, Abubakar-Tunga emphasized that the total disbursement exceeded N2.7 billion, benefiting students enrolled in institutions both within Nigeria and overseas.
He commended Governor Idris for his commitment to improving higher education and urged Kebbi residents to continue supporting the administration’s efforts in advancing academic excellence.
