JUST IN: Kebbi State Approves ₦585.4 Million for 100 Students Studying in India

Kebbi State Forms 16-Member Committee to Tackle Upcoming Flooding

The Kebbi State Government has approved ₦585.4 million for the payment of tuition fees for 100 students from the state who are studying in various universities in India. This approval was granted by Governor Nasir Idris following a submission by the Ministry of Higher Education.

Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Isa Abubakar Tunga, emphasized the governor’s dedication to education and his desire to foster knowledge acquisition across diverse fields. According to the commissioner, all the beneficiaries in India are pursuing science-related courses, with a significant focus on Medicine.

In addition to this initiative, Tunga highlighted that 25 Kebbi State students are studying Medicine and Nursing Sciences in Egypt under an Egyptian government scholarship program. While the Egyptian Government covers their tuition fees, the Kebbi State Government ensures their upkeep, including expenses for accommodation, feeding, and resident permits.

The commissioner further disclosed that the payment file for the Egyptian-based students has been submitted and is awaiting the governor’s approval. This is expected to happen shortly after his return from an official engagement.

Tunga commended Governor Idris for his unwavering commitment to educational development, describing him as a professional teacher who prioritizes the academic growth of Kebbi’s youth. The commissioner noted that such investments in education would undoubtedly contribute to the state’s human capital development and future progress.

This initiative underscores the governor’s vision of providing opportunities for Kebbi students to excel academically and contribute meaningfully to society.
