The Adamawa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Yola, the state capital, has affirmed Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as the governor of the state.
The tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aishatu Dahiru Binani, who had challenged the outcome of the March 18 election and the April 18 declaration of Fintiri as the winner following the April 16 supplementary election.
This is the second petition to be dismissed by the tribunal, following the dismissal of the petition filed by Dr. Umar Ardo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on October 2.

The tribunal, led by Justice Theodore Uloho, held that Binani’s petition was lacking in merit and did not provide sufficient evidence to support her claims of electoral irregularities.
The tribunal’s ruling is a major victory for Fintiri and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It also puts to rest any doubts about the legitimacy of his election as governor of Adamawa State.
