In a recent legal development, a US court has ruled in favor of Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, in his pursuit to obtain President Bola Tinubu’s academic records from the Chicago State University (CSU).
Judge Nancy Maldonado, presiding over the case, has ordered the Chicago State University to provide access to President Tinubu’s academic records, including his admission and acceptance letter. This decision comes as a response to Atiku’s legal action to secure these records.
Initially, President Tinubu had appealed to Justice Gilbert for a stay of execution of the Magistrate court ruling that favored Atiku. However, Atiku filed a counter-appeal, which was upheld by Judge Nancy Maldonado.

The court has mandated the Chicago State University to release the requested documents by Monday, October 2, with a completion deadline of Tuesday, October 3. Judge Maldonado has also cautioned against any attempts to delay the execution of this judgment through appeals, emphasizing that such requests will be denied.
This legal development has significant implications for the upcoming presidential election in Nigeria and raises questions about the authenticity of academic records. It underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in the political sphere.
