The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is set to make crucial decisions regarding the withheld results of the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates. In an official announcement made on Tuesday, WAEC disclosed that the 76th meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) has been convened to address cases of malpractice and irregularities that have arisen from the recent examinations.
Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut’s appointment as the Head of the Nigeria National Office, as reported by The PUNCH, underscores WAEC’s commitment to upholding the integrity of examinations in the region.
In August, WAEC initially released the results of the 2023 WASSCE, but the outcomes of 262,803 candidates were withheld due to instances of examination malpractice. This decision has raised concerns among affected candidates and their families.
