Mallam Isa Gusau, the spokesperson for Borno State Governor, has sadly passed away at a hospital in New Delhi, India. The news of his demise comes after a prolonged illness, with reports indicating that he was unconscious for about three days before succumbing to his condition on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, confirmed the unfortunate development on his official Facebook page. Expressing condolences, Abdulaziz highlighted Isa Gusau’s remarkable career as the longest-serving spokesperson to a governor. Gusau had served under both then-Governor Kashim Shettima and the current Governor Babagana Zulum.

The Borno State government has yet to release an official statement regarding Isa Gusau’s passing, leaving the details of his interment uncertain.
In a related sorrowful event, Obebhatein Jonathan, the elder sister of former President Goodluck Jonathan, also breathed her last on Thursday at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. She was 70 years old and had been battling a brief illness.

Described as a retired teacher, businesswoman, and a devoted mother and grandmother, Obebhatein Jonathan lived a life dedicated to service to God and humanity. The statement from Mr. Jonathan’s media office announced that her burial is scheduled for Tuesday, 16 February, with the family set to reveal the details of the funeral rites.
Obebhatein Jonathan leaves behind three children, siblings, including former President Jonathan, and her mother Eunice Afeni-Jonathan.
