Kaduna Church Distributes Food to Needy Muslims for Ramadan

A church in Kaduna has extended a gesture of goodwill by distributing food items to over 1,000 underprivileged Muslims and Islamic schools ahead of the Ramadan fasting period.

The Church of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, located in Sabon Tasha, carried out the distribution at the Kano Road Central Mosque in Kaduna. Pastor Yohanna Buru, who led the initiative, emphasized that the effort was aimed at fostering peace and religious harmony.

According to Pastor Buru, the church has been providing food aid to disadvantaged Muslims and Tsangaya schools across northern Nigeria for nearly two decades. This year, the distribution included rice, maize, mats, and plastic kettles, ensuring recipients have the necessary items for the fasting period.

He also urged traders to refrain from increasing food prices during Ramadan and announced a 7-day campaign involving pastors and imams to engage market sellers on price stability.

Mallam Hassan Lawal, a representative of the Association of Persons with Disabilities, expressed gratitude for the church’s ongoing support, while Mallam Tukur Zubairu, leader of the Virtually Impaired Association, acknowledged the continued assistance provided to Muslims during Ramadan. They called on wealthy individuals to follow suit in supporting the less privileged during the holy month.
