In a clear declaration, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has firmly declined the invitation from the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, to join the ruling party. This decisive response follows a majority decision by Kano APC stakeholders to reconcile with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
Speculation has arisen that Ganduje’s call may align with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to bring Yusuf and members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) back into the APC fold. Despite a recent APC stakeholders meeting in Kano affirming the acceptance of the Supreme Court verdict in Yusuf’s favor, the governor remains steadfast in his stance.

Director-General of Media and Publicity to the Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, emphasized that Yusuf rejected Ganduje’s call unequivocally. He noted that the governor, like others, learned about the appeal through social media, highlighting the importance of proper communication channels.
“The governor has no intention to leave his party, the NNPP, for any other party. Let me reiterate, the governor has no interest in joining any party because he is content with the NNPP,” stated Bature Dawakin Tofa.
This development injects an intriguing dynamic into Kano’s political landscape, as stakeholders navigate alliances and affiliations. As the story unfolds, it prompts questions about the intricate political dynamics within the state.
