In a significant development, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has taken a strategic legal step to challenge the recent decision of the Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal. The governor has hired the services of Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), a renowned legal luminary who notably led the legal team of President Bola Tinubu during the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).
The tribunal’s ruling had, last month, declared Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election, effectively stripping Governor Yusuf of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) of his mandate.

Chief Wole Olanipekun’s involvement in Governor Yusuf’s case adds a significant dimension to the legal battle. Accompanying him on the governor’s legal team are experienced legal practitioners, including Bode Olanipekun (SAN), Ibrahim G. Waru, and Akintola Makinde.
