Hackers have taken over the official Facebook page of the Kano State Hisbah Board, posting inappropriate and explicit content. This breach, which occurred on Wednesday, has caused significant public outrage. Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of the Hisbah Board, confirmed the hack on Friday and expressed the board’s efforts to address the situation.
Daurawa acknowledged the seriousness of the issue and appealed to the public for assistance in resolving it. The Hisbah Board’s ICT department is actively working to recover the page and is in discussions with Meta to rectify the breach. Sani Zailani, the Head of ICT at the board, revealed that the account has been targeted in previous incidents and that Meta has promised to resolve the current issue within 48 hours.
The board has requested that the community report the hacked page to Meta in English to help stop the spread of the inappropriate content. The support and concern from the public have been greatly appreciated as the Hisbah Board works to restore the page and ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
