Kano State Hisbah Board Launches Manhunt for 6 TikTokers Over Alleged Inappropriate Content
In a recent development, the Kano State Hisbah Board has initiated a manhunt for six prominent TikTok content creators from the region, accusing them of sharing explicit and inappropriate content on their TikTok and other social media platforms. The Board asserts that these actions are in violation of its existing laws and regulations.
Months prior, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, the Commander-General of the Board, had invited female TikTok creators for an interactive session. During the meeting, the Board extended offers of rehabilitation, empowerment opportunities, vocational training, and scholarships to dissuade them from what they deemed as immoral activities.

The affected TikTok users, including Murja Ibrahim Kunya, Abubakar Ibrahim (G-Fresh), Sadiya Haruna, Ashiru Idris (Maiwushirya), Ummee Shakira, and Hassan Makeup, had initially signed an undertaking with the Hisbah Board, pledging good behavior and compliance with the rules.
However, it seems the content creators failed to adhere to the agreement, prompting the Hisbah Board to launch a manhunt for those allegedly violating the terms.

In an interview with BBC Hausa Service, Sheikh Daurawa clarified that the Board’s primary objective is to ensure that entertainers refrain from posting inappropriate content. He emphasized that their intention is not to make repeated arrests but to achieve compliance.
Daurawa revealed that the Hisbah Board engaged with TikTok representatives in Lagos, obtaining assurances about promptly deleting accounts that violate rules such as breach of peace or insults against religions.

“The deletion of accounts is more effective than arresting TikTok users. It is more painful for a TikTok user to lose their accounts after amassing numerous followers,” Sheikh Daurawa stated.
The six TikTokers in question are among the most followed content creators in Northern Nigeria and have been in conflict with the Hisbah Board before this recent development.
