Kano PoS Operator Rewarded N500K for Returning N9.9m Mistakenly Transferred

Kano PoS Operator Rewarded N500K for Returning N9.9m Mistakenly Transferred

In a remarkable display of honesty and integrity, Mohammed Sani Abdulrahman, a 37-year-old Point of Sale (PoS) operator from Kurnar Asabe Quarters in Kano, has been commended and rewarded for his exemplary actions. Abdulrahman was recently presented with a cash gift of N500,000 by a businessman after returning a significant sum of money that was mistakenly transferred to his account.

The incident dates back to December 2023 when Abdulrahman discovered that a customer had inadvertently transferred N9,990,000 to his business account instead of the intended N10,000. Rather than capitalizing on the error, Abdulrahman promptly reported the issue to the authorities, demonstrating his commitment to honesty and ethical conduct.

Following an extensive three-month investigation by the Kano State Police Command, the rightful owner of the funds, a businessman from Dawanau Grain Market, was identified. The entire sum of N9,990,000 was returned to the owner’s account, much to the relief and gratitude of both parties involved.

In a generous gesture of appreciation, the businessman not only reclaimed his funds but also rewarded Abdulrahman with a cash gift of N500,000. This act of recognition highlights the significance of integrity and serves as a testament to Abdulrahman’s commendable character.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, praised Abdulrahman for his honesty and encouraged others to emulate his example. The commissioner’s acknowledgment underscores the importance of upholding moral principles and fostering a culture of trust and accountability within society.

Abdulrahman’s story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding us all of the value of integrity and the power of doing what is right, even when faced with challenging circumstances.
