Kano State Government Bans Kannywood Films Promoting Thuggery and Cross-Dressing

The Kano State Government has officially banned Kannywood movies that promote thuggery and cross-dressing. This decision follows numerous complaints from the community regarding the depiction of such themes in films. Abba El-Mustapha, the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Films and Censorship Board, issued a directive to suspend and prohibit all cinematic productions featuring these elements across the state.

The announcement was made through a press release signed by Abdullah Sani Sulaiman, the media officer of the State’s Censorship Board. This directive came after a meeting between senior staff of the Kano Film Censorship Board and representatives of Kannywood.
