Kebbi Awards Contract for Renovation of 97 Mosques

The Kebbi State Government has launched a large-scale initiative to renovate 97 mosques across its 21 Local Government Areas. This was announced by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr. Sani Aliyu, during a meeting with Islamic group leaders in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Dr. Aliyu stated that the renovation project is designed to enhance places of worship, with each local government responsible for refurbishing at least three mosques. Additionally, one mosque will be allocated to each Islamic organization for renovation, aside from the designated Jumu’ah mosques. He emphasized that the project follows carefully outlined guidelines to ensure quality execution. All selected mosques have been assessed by the due process office before approval. He further stressed the importance of integrity and adherence to contractual specifications, urging stakeholders to ensure transparency throughout the project.

Malam Imran Bin-Usman, Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Religious Affairs, revealed that solar-powered lighting systems will be installed in all mosques as part of the upgrades. Each mosque will receive three solar panels of 100 watts, among other improvements. He added that this is just the first phase of the project, and upon successful completion, a second phase will be initiated. A team of engineers, consultants, and media personnel will oversee the process to ensure compliance with standards.

The renovation contract comes with a strict two-week execution period. Stakeholders are required to review and sign contractual agreements before commencing work. The agreement details the funding and specific items to be installed. The Kebbi State Government is dedicated to improving religious infrastructure, providing better worship facilities for residents, and promoting community development.

Governor Nasir Idris has assured the public of a transparent and high-quality execution of the project. He urged all involved parties to uphold the highest standards of workmanship and accountability, ensuring that the mosques are renovated efficiently and effectively.
