In a significant stride towards enhancing transportation infrastructure, Kebbi State has officially commenced the construction, rehabilitation, and modernization of the Birnin Kebbi motor park, with a budget of N2.99 billion. Governor Nasir Idris kicked off the project in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, fulfilling a campaign promise and signaling a commitment to urban development.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, Governor Idris stated that the project aims to give the state capital a more modern outlook through the rehabilitation and modernization of existing structures. Encouraging beneficiaries, he emphasized the need for judicious use of the facility to improve their businesses and underscored the importance of protecting the project for its long-term benefits.

The Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Umar Faruk-Muslim, highlighted the historical context, noting that the motor park, originally constructed in 1996, had suffered neglect in previous administrations. The comprehensive scope of the project includes redesign, reconstruction, and modernization, intending to create a contemporary motor park capable of accommodating various commercial transit businesses.
Faruk-Muslim urged beneficiaries to take an active role in safeguarding the project from vandalism, emphasizing that the collective effort to protect the infrastructure is crucial for its sustained functionality.
