
In a significant stride towards enhancing the quality of education, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has officially kicked off a comprehensive training program for 2,400 teachers. This strategic initiative, conducted in collaboration with POBITECH Consultancy Service, underscores the state government’s commitment to reshaping the education sector.
Governor Idris made the announcement during the inaugural session held at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi. Emphasizing the collective responsibility of stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and relevant partners, he urged everyone to join hands with the administration in advancing the education sector.

“I’m going to give more priority to the welfare of teachers. This administration will support the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), modifying and strengthening its operations to align with the needs of our society,” Governor Idris assured.
The rector of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Usman Sani-Tunga, commended the governor for this progressive move. He highlighted the pivotal role of continuous training and development in elevating the education sector to new heights. Sani-Tunga pledged the institution’s commitment to providing high-quality training through qualified and professional trainers.

Suleiman Khalid, Chair of the Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), disclosed that the training is organized into six units, each hosting 400 participants. The two-week program encompasses subjects such as English, Mathematics, and pedagogical skills, aiming to enhance the overall effectiveness of educators in the classroom.
This initiative aligns seamlessly with Governor Idris’s vision for the state’s education sector, emphasizing the critical importance of continuous professional development for teachers. The proactive step has garnered positive responses from various quarters, recognizing it as a vital measure toward ensuring a high standard of education in Kebbi State.
