In a strategic move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the state’s executive councils, the Kebbi State Government has distributed 26 operational vehicles to commissioners from 21 local government areas. The distribution ceremony, held in Birnin Kebbi, was presided over by Governor Nasir Idris, who emphasized the purpose behind the allocation.
Governor Idris, addressing the commissioners, stressed that the vehicles were provided to alleviate transportation challenges during official engagements. The fleet is expected to facilitate commissioners in visiting their respective localities to gain firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by the communities they represent.

“We are making history again today because we are handing over 26 vehicles to commissioners to ease transportation challenges in their official engagements,” Governor Idris stated during the distribution. He further highlighted the intended use of the vehicles, emphasizing that they are not meant for luxury within the state capital but for commissioners to navigate their local areas after official duties.
The governor’s cautionary tone was evident as he issued a stern warning against any form of misuse. Governor Idris made it clear that commissioners found selling the vehicles or diverting them for unofficial purposes would face severe consequences, including dismissal from their positions.

“This government is people-oriented. We are not giving the vehicles to them to be sold. If anyone of them is found to have sold the vehicle or not using it for the purpose meant for, the person will be sacked,” Governor Idris asserted.
The move reflects the state government’s commitment to ensuring that public resources are utilized for their intended purposes and aligns with a broader goal of fostering engagement between commissioners and the local communities. The emphasis on accountability and transparency in the use of state resources underscores the government’s dedication to serving the people of Kebbi State.
