Kebbi Government Donates N20 Million to Argungu Market Fire Victims

In response to the recent fire disaster at Argungu central market, the Kebbi State Government has swiftly stepped in, allocating a substantial sum of N20 million to assist the affected traders. The State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafidan Kabi, announced the donation at the Emir of Argungu’s palace.

Out of the total fund, N900,000 will be given to those who lost their shops, while N250,000 will go to those who lost stalls. The aim is to provide financial relief and aid in the recovery process for the victims. The deputy governor emphasized that this support is a temporary measure to alleviate the immediate hardships faced by the affected individuals.

To ensure fair distribution, a committee chaired by Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, the APC National Organizing Secretary, has been established. Senator Umar Abubakar encouraged the affected traders to view the incident as a test and prayed for the prevention of future disasters.

The Emir of Argungu, represented by Kunduddan Kabi, Alhaji Ibrahim Kwaido, expressed gratitude to the state government for its prompt response, highlighting the commitment of the administration to the welfare of the people.

Alhaji Musa Abubakar Samu, Caretaker Administrator of Argungu local government council, commended the state government’s gesture, acknowledging its significant impact on alleviating the hardships faced by the victims. Alhaji Labbo Hakon Sarki, Chairman of the Traders Association, praised the administration of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu for its support.

Dignitaries present at the occasion included the Commissioner of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Hon. Sama’ila Yakubu Augie, Chairmen of the State Emergency Management Agency, Hon. Bello Yakubu Rilisko, and Deputy Chief of Staff, Alhaji Lawali Labbo Maishanu. The deputy governor personally handed out cash donations to some of the victims, underscoring the government’s commitment to aiding the recovery of those affected by this tragic incident.
