As the Christmas and New Year celebrations approach, the Kebbi State Police Command in Nigeria has issued a stern warning to residents against the use of fireworks and knockouts. The caution comes in an effort to maintain the current peaceful coexistence in the state, according to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Chris Aimionowane, demonstrated his commitment to ensuring a secure Yuletide season by convening a meeting on Friday, December 22, 2023. The gathering included discussions with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and tactical commanders to reinforce security measures around religious and event/recreational centers throughout Kebbi State.

The directive from CP Chris Aimionowane emphasized the need for collaboration with other security agencies to deploy both human and material resources effectively. The strategic approach involves visibility policing, rigorous stop and search operations, aggressive patrols, and the identification and raiding of black spots and uncompleted buildings across the state.
The Commissioner of Police urged the Christian community in Kebbi State to celebrate responsibly and specifically cautioned against the use of knockouts, fireworks, or firecrackers during the Yuletide season. The concern is that such activities may inadvertently cause panic or apprehension among unsuspecting members of the public.
