Kebbi State Allocates N50 Million to Upgrade Firefighting Vehicles

In a commendable move towards bolstering emergency response services, the Kebbi State Government has allocated N50 million for the refurbishment of firefighting vehicles. Governor Nasir Idris approved the initiative, aimed at revitalizing the state’s Fire Service Department and ensuring optimal proficiency in handling fire outbreaks.

The Ministry of Works and Transport took possession of three meticulously refurbished firefighting trucks, a significant addition to the previously lone serviceable vehicle. The demonstration of the vehicles’ firefighting abilities garnered admiration during a simulation at the ministry’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.

Hon. Abdullahi Umar Faruq Muslim, the Commissioner of the Ministry, shared that the refurbishment project was executed through direct labor, with a technical engineer from Jos providing professional expertise to breathe new life into the dormant vehicles. The Governor’s support for the ministry’s functions was highlighted, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to public safety.

Arc. Sa’ad Sakaba, the Permanent Secretary for Works and Transport, expressed gratitude for the governor’s foresight in approving the refurbishment, acknowledging the positive impact on the quality of life for Kebbi residents. Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, praised Governor Nasir Idris for transforming Kebbi into a significant infrastructural construction hub.

The Director of the Fire Service Department, Mallam Bashir Bello, conveyed immense appreciation for the resuscitation of firefighting vehicles, acknowledging the efforts of the governor and the Commissioner for Works in energizing the department.
