In a significant move towards enhancing the development of basic education in Kebbi State, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has granted approval for the release of a whopping N1,204,452,363.76 to the Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). This allocation aims to enable the board to access the Federal Government of Nigeria/Universal Basic Education (FGN/UBE) Matching Grant for the year 2023. The news was announced in a statement by Malam Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor.
With this approval, an additional sum of N2,408,904,707.52 will be made available for infrastructural development within the basic education subsector in Kebbi State. The Chairman of SUBEB, Prof. Sulaiman Khalid Jega, expressed his gratitude for the governor’s unwavering support in advancing the state’s basic education sector.
The allocated funds will be utilized for various purposes, including the provision of additional school furniture, perimeter fencing of schools, and the establishment of water and sanitation facilities such as boreholes and hand pumps. Furthermore, the funds will be instrumental in improving sports facilities, promoting agricultural education, and integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in all schools under the purview of the board.
