Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, embarked on a compassionate visit to the scorched Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) facility in Tal’udu, Birnin Kebbi, following a devastating fire incident that plunged the state and neighboring regions into darkness. In a press release issued by the Special Adviser to the Kebbi State Governor, Yahaya Sarki, it was revealed that the Governor expressed deep sympathy for the affected communities and swiftly initiated measures to alleviate the hardships faced by residents.

The inferno, which occurred on Thursday night, inflicted significant damage to the TCN substation, causing millions of naira worth of destruction. Governor Idris wasted no time in assessing the situation and offering immediate relief to the affected population.
During his visit, Governor Idris directed the Ministry of Water Resources, as well as Advisers on Power and Environment, to collaborate on ensuring the supply of diesel to power Water Board engines. This initiative aims to maintain the provision of clean, potable water to Kebbi residents, safeguarding them from potential outbreaks of waterborne diseases. He emphasized, “We don’t want a situation where this problem will lead to suffering of our people. We want people to enjoy a supply of potable water to avoid an outbreak of diseases.”
Furthermore, Governor Idris advocated for the formation of a committee of inquiry to determine the root cause of the fire incident. Investigation is deemed necessary to prevent the recurrence of such a devastating event in the future.

The Governor expressed his commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government, TCN, and Kaduna Electricity to expedite the restoration of electricity supply. This effort is intended to alleviate the hardships experienced by the people of Kebbi State and its neighboring regions.
During his visit, Governor Idris was accompanied by the Honorable Minister of State for Education, Rt. Hon Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu (Dan Madamin Yauri), State Accountant General, Alhaji Bello Ibrahim Nahaliku, Special Adviser to the Governor on Power, Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant, Alhaji Ibrahim Bagudu, and other high-ranking government officials. Together, they conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the damaged power transmission facility.
In these trying times, Governor Idris’ swift response and dedication to restoring essential services like electricity and clean water underscore his commitment to the well-being of the people of Kebbi State. The government’s proactive approach to addressing this crisis provides a ray of hope for the affected communities as they work towards recovery and normalcy.
