Kebbi State Governor Vows to End Era of Acting Permanent Secretaries

In a significant move aimed at streamlining the administrative structure of the civil service in Kebbi State, Governor Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has declared his commitment to putting an end to the era of Acting Permanent Secretaries. This announcement came during a gathering in Birnin Kebbi where the governor hosted Permanent Secretaries and members of Boards and Parastatals for a Ramadan fast-breaking (Iftar) session.

Governor Idris emphasized his administration’s determination to ensure that Permanent Secretaries serving in acting capacities are duly confirmed after following due process. He reiterated his administration’s stance on adhering to meritocracy and stated that those qualified for the role would soon be appointed as substantive Permanent Secretaries.

Furthermore, Governor Idris underscored the importance of geographic representation by mentioning the implementation of a quota system to ensure fair representation from each Local Government Area within the state.

During the gathering, the governor urged attendees to rally behind his administration’s efforts towards achieving its goals, particularly in infrastructural development across the state. He expressed optimism about Kebbi State’s future, envisioning its emergence as a prominent player among other states in the country, owing to the ongoing developmental projects being implemented across various sectors.

In response, Alhaji Dahiru Zaki, representing other Permanent Secretaries, expressed gratitude to the governor for extending the invitation for the Iftar session. He commended Governor Idris for his unwavering commitment to completing vital projects such as the state secretariat, aimed at enhancing efficiency within the civil service.
