Kebbi State Govt To Sponsor Mass Wedding For 600 Couples

The Kebbi State Government has announced plans to sponsor the weddings of 600 individuals, covering dowry payments and ensuring proper screening for all participants.

As part of efforts to support underprivileged residents, the Kebbi State Government has finalized arrangements for a mass wedding involving 300 grooms and 300 brides. The government will provide financial assistance, including a dowry payment of ₦180,000 per couple.

Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the Chairman of the Mass Wedding Committee, Suleman Argungu, disclosed that a screening process has been introduced to ensure all couples meet the necessary requirements. This includes pre-marital health screenings and an evaluation of the groom’s employment or trade status to confirm his ability to provide for his spouse.
