Kebbi State Opens 69 Feeding Centers for Ramadan

In preparation for the upcoming Ramadan fasting period, the Kebbi State Government has taken proactive measures to support its citizens by opening 69 feeding centers spread across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state. This initiative aims to provide essential sustenance for individuals observing the fast during this sacred month.

During a recent briefing in Birnin Kebbi, Malam Imran Usman-Abdur-Rahman, the Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Religious Affairs, announced the inauguration of these feeding centers. He emphasized Governor Idris’s directive to establish three feeding centers in each local government area, starting from the first day of Ramadan. This effort is geared towards assisting residents in maintaining their fasting obligations with ease and convenience.

Additionally, Governor Idris demonstrated his commitment to enhancing religious infrastructure by allocating funds for the comprehensive renovation of the Sheik Abbas Jega Jumu’at Mosque in Rafin Atiku, Birnin Kebbi. The renovation includes internal furnishing and the installation of security lights, aiming to improve the overall ambiance and safety of the mosque premises.

Usman-Abdur-Rahman further elaborated that although the governor had initially planned for immediate commencement of the renovation work, the Imam of the Mosque proposed delaying the action until after Eid-el-Fitr, considering the ongoing Ramadan Tafsir (Islamic lectures) being conducted at the mosque.

This thoughtful decision underscores the government’s respect for religious practices and its collaborative approach with local religious leaders to ensure optimal timing for community projects.

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Kebbi State Government’s initiatives reflect its dedication to supporting the welfare of its citizens and enhancing religious infrastructure for the benefit of the community.
