Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has taken a significant stride towards supporting education and enhancing the welfare of its citizens by approving a one-time payment of ₦10,000 for all students of Kwara origin in public-owned tertiary institutions. This move represents a substantial expansion of the previous bursary award, which was previously limited to final year students.
In addition to the support for students, Governor AbdulRazaq has also granted a stipend of ₦10,000 each for certain categories of security agents in the state. The disbursement of these funds will be overseen by the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) Office, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process.

To facilitate the smooth coordination of the support, a dedicated committee has been established. Chaired by Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, who also serves as the chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), the committee comprises officials from the Ministry of Tertiary Institution, the bursary department, the Ministry of Finance, as well as representatives from the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Kwara State.
Eligible students seeking to benefit from the state bursary support will be required to submit the necessary documents and fill in the required information through a designated web link, which will be published by the committee. Specific application dates will also be announced, allowing students ample time to complete the process.
Governor AbdulRazaq’s innovative initiative aims to provide financial assistance not only to students but also to security agents who are at the forefront of safeguarding the state. By extending this support to all students in public-owned tertiary institutions, the Governor aims to bolster the education sector and uplift the prospects of the youth.
