Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Approves 50% December Bonus and Wage Award for Civil Servants

In a move aimed at recognizing and appreciating the hard work and dedication of civil servants, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has given his approval for the payment of a wage award and a 50% December bonus to all civil servants in the state. The announcement was made by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, through a circular titled ‘2023 End of Year Bonus and Implementation of Wage Awards,’ dated December 14, 2023.

This significant decision extends to political appointees, public servants, employees of Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC). The end-of-year bonus, equivalent to 50% of the basic salary, is a gesture of gratitude from the state government towards the workforce for their continuous contributions to the progress and development of Lagos State.

The state government has taken a notable step by ensuring that the 50% bonus and the wage award will be classified as a ‘NON TAXABLE ELEMENT,’ providing additional relief to the beneficiaries.
