This information comes just before the approval stage, giving applicants an idea of how their chosen skill areas compare in terms of demand.

With over one million applications received across different vocational fields, the numbers reveal which skills are most popular and which have fewer competitors.

Top Skills with the Highest Applications

According to the update, the five most competitive skill areas are:

  1. Fashion Design & Garment Making — 211,179 applications
  2. Livestock Farming (Bee Keeping, Poultry & Animal Husbandry) — 210,825 applications

These figures show that fashion, farming, and technology-related skills are the most in-demand among applicants.

Other Popular Choices

Less Competitive But Vital Skills

Some vocational skills recorded fewer applications, making them less competitive:

While not as popular, these trades remain essential to everyday life and could offer applicants a better chance of selection due to lower competition.

What This Means for Applicants

This update gives applicants an opportunity to understand the level of competition in their chosen field. If shortlisted in a highly competitive skill area, it will be an achievement to appreciate. On the other hand, if an applicant is not selected, the figures explain why, as thousands of Nigerians are competing for limited training opportunities.

The approval stage is the next step, where shortlisted candidates will be confirmed. The TVET program continues to play an important role in equipping Nigerians with hands-on, market-ready skills for self-reliance and national development.
