A sea of supporters flooded the streets of Kano on Sunday to extend a grand welcome to Governor Abba Yusuf, who has returned to the North-West state after a period of absence. The enthusiastic reception comes at a crucial juncture in Governor Yusuf’s political journey, marred by a legal tussle that saw the Court of Appeal removing him from office and declaring Nasiru Gawuna of the APC as the winner of the March 2023 poll.
Dressed in the distinctive red attire of the Kwankwasiya movement, Governor Yusuf’s supporters passionately expressed their solidarity through chants and the display of banners proclaiming “Abba is our Choice” and “Justice for Kano.” The crowd’s exuberance brought local movement to a temporary halt, causing delays in Governor Yusuf’s journey from the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport to the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, Kofar Mata.
