In a recent development, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has intensified its investigation into the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, uncovering a web of alleged fraudulent activities. According to a report by Punch, a series of disturbing findings has come to light, raising concerns over the management of funds within the ministry.
The ICPC investigation has led to the detainment of five senior officials from the Department of Farm Inputs Supports Services within the ministry. These officials were reportedly held for five days before their release, with the director among them being released on health grounds. The inquiry revolves around the alleged diversion of funds designated for monitoring exercises and sensitization programs within the Ministry of Agriculture.

A staggering N200 million was discovered in the bank account of one of the officials who was being investigated, shedding light on potential financial irregularities. Additionally, the investigation revealed that N100 million was traced to the bank account of one of the official’s children, raising further suspicions about the origins of these substantial sums of money.
In a shocking twist, ICPC investigators uncovered over N250 million in cash stashed within the Abuja residence of one of the suspects arrested. The inquiry has also identified an inflow of over N60 million within a six-month period into the bank account of another suspect, further deepening the complexity of the alleged financial misconduct.
Apart from the monetary findings, the investigation took a twist when landed properties, including a bakery and a herbal hospital, were seized as part of the probe. These acquisitions add another layer of intrigue to the ongoing case, suggesting a potentially elaborate network of ill-gotten gains.

When reached for comment, ICPC spokesperson Azuka Ogugua revealed that the investigation was still ongoing and emphasized that the commission does not engage in media trials.
