MTN Plc, one of the largest mobile network operators in the world, has announced a change in its recharge and data bundle activation codes. In statements sent to their respective customers, the telecommunications company revealed that the new recharge activation code will be 311recharge pin#, replacing the previous 555recharge pin#. Similarly, the new data bundle code will be *312#, instead of the previous *131#.
No reason was given for the change, but the company encouraged its customers to start using the new codes for their convenience. MTN operates in many African and Asian countries and has its head office in Johannesburg. As of December 2020, the company had 280 million subscribers, making it the 8th largest mobile network operator in the world and the largest in Africa.

With its active presence in over 20 countries, Nigeria remains a key market for MTN, contributing one-third of the company’s revenue. The company holds about 35% market share in Nigeria, where it faces stiff competition from other mobile network operators.
