In a significant operation, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has neutralized several bandits, including prominent loyalists of notorious kingpins Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule, in Zamfara State. The operation, carried out under Operation Farautar Mujiya, is part of the military’s intensified efforts to counter banditry in Northwestern Nigeria.

The airstrikes, conducted on November 15, 2024, targeted a large assembly of bandits in Babban Kauye village, Tsafe Local Government Area. According to NAF’s intelligence, the group was planning coordinated assaults on both military and civilian targets in the Tsafe axis.

For years, Tsafe LGA has been a stronghold for bandit factions loyal to Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule. These groups have been linked to numerous violent attacks, targeting local communities, security operatives, and critical infrastructure. Remote villages like Babban Kauye have often served as operational bases for their criminal activities.

The latest strikes align with broader military operations under Operation Fansan Yamma, aimed at dismantling bandit networks, disrupting their activities, and restoring stability in the Northwest.

Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, reiterated the force’s commitment to collaborating with other security agencies. “Our mission remains clear: to eliminate all threats posed by terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements undermining our nation’s peace and progress,” he stated.

This operation marks a decisive step in the ongoing campaign to secure Zamfara and neighboring states from the persistent threat of banditry.
