Nasarawa Governor Orders Investigation Into University Stampede Deaths

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has ordered an investigation into the tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two state university students and left 23 others injured in a stampede. The students were receiving palliatives from the state government to ease economic hardship when some of them overwhelmed the security presence, leading to the unfortunate situation.

Governor Sule expressed shock and offered condolences to the families and friends of the deceased students. He emphasized the need to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and assured that those found responsible would face prosecution.

The state Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, visited the university to gather facts about the incident and also met with the injured students.

The distribution of rice and cash assistance to students across various tertiary institutions in the state had been successful in other locations, but the situation at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, turned tragic.

Governor Sule urged for calm among the populace, reaffirming the government’s commitment to continue providing palliatives to alleviate hardships faced by students and the people of Nasarawa State.
