NDE Announces Date to Release Shortlist for Phase 2 of Renewed Hope Employment Initiative

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has announced the official date for releasing the shortlist of successful applicants for the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI). According to the agency, the shortlist will be made available at the beginning of September 2025, marking the next stage of the programme after the conclusion of registration and processing.

The Phase 2 application window, which closed on August 11, 2025, attracted a total of 411,906 applicants from across Nigeria. Out of this number, only 41,307 candidates will be shortlisted to participate in the training programme. This reflects the highly competitive nature of the initiative, which is designed to provide young Nigerians with skills and opportunities for self-employment.

The Renewed Hope Employment Initiative, introduced under the Federal Government’s youth empowerment drive, focuses on equipping beneficiaries with practical skills in agriculture, technical trades such as tailoring, carpentry and welding, information and communication technology, and small-scale business management. The goal is to empower participants to become self-reliant entrepreneurs capable of contributing to national economic development.

Successful applicants will be contacted through official NDE communication channels and provided with details of their training centres and schedules. The agency has urged applicants to remain patient and to rely only on official information, warning them against fraudsters who may attempt to exploit the process by demanding money or making false promises.

NDE reiterated that the entire programme is free of charge and that the shortlisting process is based strictly on merit. Officials also emphasized that the release of the shortlist will bring hope to thousands of young Nigerians who are eager to gain meaningful skills and create opportunities for themselves and their communities.

The announcement of the shortlist date represents a key milestone in the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative, reinforcing the government’s commitment to reducing unemployment and poverty through skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.
