During the commissioning ceremony in Minna, Niger State, Prof. Wushishi highlighted NECO’s unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, aiming to elevate its services to the highest standards of integrity and excellence for the benefit of Nigerian students.
The unveiled projects include the NECO e-verify App, designed for student verification and confirmation, a newly constructed block of classrooms for the senior secondary section of the NECO Staff School, an established and equipped NECO Data and Scanning Centre, and a newly-built and equipped NECO driver’s pool, among others.

In addressing the challenges of inadequate state offices, Prof. Wushishi disclosed ongoing construction in Gombe, Katsina, and Kogi states, each at 70% completion. Furthermore, plans for seven additional state offices in Nasarawa, Rivers, Lagos, Sokoto, Taraba, Jigawa, and Abia have been included in the budget, signifying a significant milestone after 15 years without appropriations.
Despite the absence of funding for a decade and a half, Prof. Wushishi expressed gratitude to the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, for the inclusion of NECO in the capital budget. The Minister, represented by Permanent Secretary David Andrew Adejo, emphasized the importance of the 70 new vehicles in preventing exam leakages and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening NECO through provisions in the 2024 budget.
This strategic move by NECO reflects a dedication to advancing educational integrity and underscores the collaborative efforts between educational institutions and government bodies to ensure the smooth functioning of examination processes in Nigeria.
