Recent news reports that the Niger Republic has opened its land border with Nigeria, specifically in Konni. This decision comes a week after the Nigeria Customs Service opened the Illela land border between the two countries. The border in Konni was officially declared open at noon on Friday.
Nuhu Samaila, a source from Konni, Niger Republic, commended the decision of the country’s leadership, specifically the military junta, for responding to the desires of the people by reopening the border. He expressed satisfaction that the government had finally taken action and emphasized the potential economic benefits of increased trade between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
