Niger State Renames Airport to Honor President Tinubu

The Niger State Government has decided to rename the Minna International Airport to honor President Ahmed Bola Tinubu. Formerly known as Dr Abubakar Imam International Airport, the renaming coincides with the President’s visit to Minna, the state capital, where he is set to officially launch the Agricultural Revolution Project, commission the Minna Airport, and lay the foundation for the Hajj Terminal.

During a briefing in Minna, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategies, Hon. Binta Mamman, announced that President Tinubu would also inaugurate 5,000 pieces of agricultural equipment acquired by the state government. The President’s itinerary includes a guided tour of the upgraded airport terminal facilities and the laying of the foundation for the Hajj Terminal before returning to Abuja.

Hon. Binta Mamman assured that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the success of the program. Notably, the projects scheduled for inauguration were completed within nine months of the Mohammed Umar Bago administration. The Minna Airport is expected to function as an alternative to the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja and will also serve as a Cargo Airport.

The Commissioner emphasized that the state government has procured numerous pieces of mechanized agricultural equipment for the agro-processing free zone, highlighting Niger State as a leading state in the agricultural revolution within the country.
