The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has released fresh guidelines to address the ongoing recruitment exercise, following concerns about delays in the pre-test portal. The Service emphasized that the measures are designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and smooth conduct of the Computer-Based Test (CBT).
Here are the key updates every shortlisted candidate should note:

New Guidelines for NCS Recruitment 2025
- Mandatory Pre-Test Before CBT
- All candidates must participate in a practice pre-test, scheduled two days before their main CBT. This is compulsory to confirm login details, internet readiness, and device compatibility.
- Email Verification Required
- Only candidates with verified and correct email addresses will receive the pre-test and CBT access links. A portal has been provided for applicants to confirm or update their emails using their National Identification Number (NIN).
- Desktop or Laptop Use Only
- The exam can only be taken with a computer (desktop or laptop) that has a working webcam. Mobile phones and tablets are strictly prohibited.
- Facial Verification at Login
- Candidates must pass a facial verification process before gaining access. Appearance must match the details provided during registration.
- Strict Exam Environment
- The system will monitor noise, background movement, and screen activity. Switching windows, using external help, or distractions could lead to automatic disqualification.
- Appearance Matters
- Applicants are advised to maintain a tidy, professional look. An untidy or obscured appearance may affect facial recognition and result in login failure.
- Separate Links for Tests
- Two different links will be sent to each candidate — one for the pre-test and another for the actual CBT exam. Applicants must check their emails regularly and follow instructions carefully.
- Staggered Scheduling by Cadre
- Pre-test and CBT sessions are being released in phases depending on the cadre applied for (e.g., Superintendent, Inspectorate, Assistant). For instance, Superintendent cadre applicants have their pre-test on September 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM.
