- Nationality and Identification:
- Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth.
- Possession of a National Identity Card (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN) is mandatory.
- Age and Height:
- Non-tradesmen and women must be between 18 and 22 years old. Those born before September 20, 2003, are not eligible.
- Tradesmen and women must be between 18 and 25 years old, with a cut-off birth date of September 20, 2000.
- Applicants for specialized roles such as chaplain, Imam assistant, drivers, and mechanics must be between 18 and 28 years old.
- Minimum height requirements are 1.66 meters for males and 1.63 meters for females.
- Educational Qualifications:
- Non-trades applicants must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English, obtained in not more than two sittings from WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB.
- Trades applicants must possess an ND/NCE with at least a lower credit from accredited institutions, alongside the same requirement of five credits, including Mathematics and English.
- Applicants for technical roles must have relevant trade test certificates and at least two passes in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, with a credit in English.
- For professions allied to medicine, an ND from recognized Nigerian institutions and a valid practicing license are required.
- Sports applicants must provide evidence of experience, including certificates and medals.
- Physical and Legal Fitness:
- Applicants must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit.
- A clean legal record, free of any previous criminal convictions, is mandatory.

The NAF has emphasized that all forms and submissions must be completed online to ensure a smooth and transparent application process. Applicants are required to print the acknowledgement form, parent/guardian consent form, and local government attestation form after the online application. These documents must be signed by either a military officer or a local government chairman.
