Nigerian Army Opens DSSC Course 29/2026 Recruitment: How to Apply, Requirements, and Key Dates

The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of recruitment for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, calling on qualified Nigerians to apply for commissioned officer positions.

According to the Army, the recruitment exercise is free of charge and will be conducted strictly online through its official portal at recruitment.army.mil.ng. Applicants are required to select the DSSC option on the portal, carefully review the eligibility criteria, and submit their applications based on their qualifications and preferred corps.

The DSSC programme is designed for professionals who wish to serve the nation using their academic and technical expertise. Successful candidates will undergo military training and be commissioned as officers upon completion.

As part of the application process, applicants must upload key documents, including a recent passport photograph, educational certificates, certificate of state of origin, birth certificate or age declaration, and National Identification Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN). Evidence of membership of a recognized professional body must also be provided where applicable.

The application window opens on 7 January 2026 and closes on 4 February 2026. The Nigerian Army has warned applicants against paying money to individuals or groups, emphasizing that the recruitment process is transparent and does not involve any form of payment.
